Melissa Conley Tyler
Team Leader
Melissa Conley Tyler is the National Executive Director of the Australian Institute of International Affairs, an independent non-profit organisation ranked the top think tank in Southeast Asia and the Pacific in the Global Go To Think Tanks Index for the last two years.
During 10 years leading the AIIA, she has edited more than 50 publications, organised more than 90 policy events, overseen dramatic growth in youth engagement and built stronger relations with other institutes of international affairs worldwide. Her recent research focuses on global governance, Australian foreign policy and changes in diplomatic practice. Ms Conley Tyler was selected as one of the nation’s 1,000 “best and brightest” to participate in the Australia 2020 Summit convened by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
Ms Conley Tyler is a lawyer and specialist in conflict, including negotiation, mediation and peace education. She was previously Program Manager of the International Conflict Resolution Centre at the University of Melbourne and Senior Fellow of Melbourne Law School. She has an international profile in conflict including membership of the Editorial Board of the Conflict Resolution Quarterly. She is listed in Routledge’s Who’s Who in International Affairs and International Who’s Who of Women.

Antonia Mochan
Media and Communication Expert
Antonia is a former EU media spokesperson who now works as a media and communication consultant in Australia. After a 8 year policy career in the European Commission, she moved into the media and communications area in 2003, becoming European Commission Spokeswoman for Employment & Social Affairs, and then Science & Research. In 2008, she moved to London, where she worked as Head of Media and then Head of Communication at the European Commission Representation to the UK. She moved to Australia in 2014 to study at the University of Melbourne and since then has been consulting in a variety of fields, including strategic communications and digital media.

Michael Zettinig
Event Manager
Holding a PhD in Political Science, Michael Zettinig has the right professional experience, background and industry contacts to manage and oversee the event activities of the project. In particular, his eleven years of professional event management experience both in Europe (Germany) and Australia as well as his proven track record in successfully organising multi-day high-level conferences with business and political audiences predestine him for this important role. He has recent experience organising relevant activities both in Australia and in Europe. Examples of this include major conferences in Melbourne and complex discussion events in Berlin.
However, organising successful events works only with a strong team approach. Michael has more than five years’ experience in managing event teams, from the early planning stages of large events through the execution and up to the post-event activities. In collaboration with the other experts, he is also utilises including social media as a crucial communication tool to successfully manage the large team and many delegates involved in the project’s Senior Leaders Fora, Emerging Leaders Fora and Sectoral Policy Workshops. He also possesses a deep understanding and relevant contact network in the Europe-Australia political and business relationship, enabling him to tailor the event management work to the audience’s requirements. As Director of Policy at the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, he also contributes a deep understanding of the EU-Australia economic relationship and current key policy developments
